Tak Mo (སྟག་མོ་) Burning Bright
There are three parts to my identity that have always remained with me no matter the chameleon exterior I select in the moment.
The first part is who I belong to; I belong to Sikkim (འབྲས་ལྗོངས) in the eastern part of the Himalayan range, raised under the shadows of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Specifically, I belong to the Bhutia community and I am the daughter of Tsunma Dechen Zangmo, a Tibetan Buddhist nun, teacher, and enlightened iconoclast. The second part is that I was born towards the tail end of a Wood Tiger year. I am a Tak Mo (སྟག་མོ་ ) which is Bhutia/ Tibetan for "tigress" and depending on the intonation, can even mean "old tigress." Despite a heavy dollop of skepticism, ultimately, I accept that this is my karmic astrological nature (more on this some day I'm sure)! And, finally, that I am a practitioner and seeker of the sacred feminine and lately, given the upheaval in the world, I have been spending some quality time face-to-face with the Tara who is known as Metar Barma (མེ་ལྟར་འབར་མ་) or Tara who Blazes like Fire.
Homage to her who dwells within a garland of flames
Like the fire at the end of an aeon;
With her right leg outstretched and her left bent,
She destroys all obstacles with joy.
Between that and William Blake, the name for this blog emerged instantly and spontaneously. It feels auspicious.
Welcome! I am so glad you found me here. 🙏🏽
